You know, Innstar gave this 5 stars, but I just can't imagine people using it. First, the English is horrible (and it only covers US, Canada, and UK, places you'd expect to find good grammar). Second, navigation is a nightmare. Once you've drilled down to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, you have to choose one of 30 little towns, each with 1 or 2 B&Bs. No maps, no overview, no help. (Once you select a town, then you can expand your search out n miles, but it's still awkward.) And finally, I've never seen them come up on a search engine listing, so I don't know how people are finding them.
Even Innstar noted that they only provided 44 referrals and 0 guest-nights in 2005, so why is this rated 5 stars??
BnbStar also raised their prices since Innstar's review, from $60 to $80 for a picture and link. ($20 more gets you 10 photos, 2 banner ads, 3 special offers, and detailed room listings.)
FYI: Innstar said members were also listed on inspectedinns.com, but if you go to that site it says "We will return in April 2006 after the PAII conference." Huh? I didn't know web sites had to come down for a conference (Plus it's now November 2006.)
Sorry, my mistake: Innstar said members were also listed on inspectedinns.org, which is up and running (and has the same terrible grammar).
Inspectedinns.com is actually owned by the same guy that does Innstar. It doesn't have a rating. :-)
Here's where it gets bizarre: If you go to bnbstar.com, you'll probably see a banner ad that says inspectedinns.com but if you click it, it takes you to inspectedinns.org. Looks like a major typo for our english-challenged friend at bnbstar.
If you can't find the directory you want on this page, use the 'SEARCH BLOG' feature in the navigation bar at the top of this page to find it.
How to add or read comments for a directory listing
Find the directory you want (see above) . You will see something like "Posted by Happy Innkeeper at 10/14/2006 09:25:00 AM1 comments" at the bottom of the post. To add or read comments, click on the "comments" tag. A new window will popup showing all current comments and at the bottom a place for you to add your own comments. Comments may be added anonymously if so desired. For posting guidelines click here
